The second leg of the First qualifying round of the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League was played yesterday. FC Twente and Rosenborg are the best known teams that took part in this early stage, and both managed to progress after victories against Santa Coloma from Andorra and Crusaders from Northern Ireland respectively. Some of the other British teams also failed to make it through, as Bangor, Cefn Druids and Llanelli from Wales and Cliftonville from Northern Ireland all lost their ties. Bohemian FC from the Republic of Ireland also lost their game, a devastating 5-1 defeat against Thor from Iceland.

We’ll be seeing some  of thebetter-known European teams join the competition in the Second round. Red Star from Serbia, Anzhi from Russia, last year’s Champions League sensation APOEL FC and Belgian side Gent are just some of the teams which will begin their participation at this stage of the Europa League.
